What Seven Days: Monday - Thursday Is About
Toji Seryo is in his first year of high school and everyone knows the rule: if somebody confesses to him on a Monday he will say yes, and he will have ended it before the week is out. Yuzuru Shino, two years above him, is good-looking and yet every girlfriend he has ever had is the one who left. Curious, half joking and half not, he asks Seryo out on a Monday. Takeshi Yokoi's 2015 film is a boys' love story adapted from the manga of the same name, and the first of two parts. Sixty-six quiet minutes with a great deal of interior monologue, and what it is actually about is the moment something that started as a joke stops being one.
