What Shadow World Is About

The documentary takes on the arms trade from the start of the twentieth century to the present: who sells, who takes the commission, which government looks away at which point, and how all of it keeps a permanent state of war supplied. Johan Grimonprez built the film out of the 2011 book by Andrew Feinstein, a former South African MP and anti-corruption investigator. Among those speaking are war correspondents, soldiers, academics, investigative journalists, peace campaigners and arms dealers themselves. This is not a neutral accounting but a film openly arguing a case, and it does not pretend otherwise.
