She Kept Asking for the Moon

Johanka is a woman living in a village. Years ago she met a man who dug wells. He left the village soon afterwards. A daughter was left behind. Johanka raised her alone. Eighteen years pass. Her daughter Paulina works in the city. She travels there by bus every day. The gossip in the village does not leave her alone. She is reminded again and again about her father. An argument breaks out between mother and daughter. Paulina moves to the city. Pressed by a friend, Johanka thinks about marrying. The friend tells her a woman is nothing without a man. In the end Johanka comes to see her own life differently. Milka Zimková and Veronika Jeníková appear in the eighty one minute film, a Czechoslovak production Štefan Uher finished in 1983.
