Silenced

The documentary is about the effort of three people who worked in national security to make public what they had seen during the years of the war on terror. Facing them is a state ever more determined to keep its secrets. The film gives each of their stories separately: what they saw, why they chose to speak and what happened to them afterwards. The account does not declare them heroes and does not count them traitors; it shows what disclosure costs. Legal proceedings and the ending of careers stand inside the text. The film’s position is openly with them and this is not hidden. James Spione’s ninety five minute American documentary was completed in 2014.
