Silver Spoon

Most of the pupils at an agricultural high school in Hokkaido come from families who work the land, and all of them dream of carrying on that work. Yuugo, on the other hand, is a city boy from a good middle school who chose this place only because it has a dormitory. Among nature and animals he finds himself a complete stranger, and he is also the only one who does not know what he wants to do. While struggling with something new every day he comes to know both the other pupils and country life, and slowly changes. The film tells anxiety about the future not through grand statements but through barn work and everyday detail. It was adapted from a comic. Kento Nakajima plays the lead in Keisuke Yoshida’s hundred and eleven minute Japanese film, completed in 2014.
