Shawn Crahan What Slipknot - Day of the Gusano Is About
Slipknot play Knotfest in Mexico. The film follows that concert from beginning to end: the stage, the masks, the crowd, the band's own preparations. Between the songs come backstage footage and conversations with fans. The devotion of the Mexican audience is the film's second subject; people arrive days early, some of them having travelled a very long way. It was directed by Shawn Crahan, a founding member who plays percussion in the band. It runs two hours and the weight of it is the concert recording. It does not tell Slipknot's history; it keeps the record of a single night and of the crowd that came to it. Gusano is Spanish for maggot, the name the band gives its fans.
