BTS World Tour: Love Yourself in Seoul

A concert film of the Seoul leg of BTS's Love Yourself tour, taken from the group's stadium show in their own city. The staging, the choreography and the crowd are carried to the screen as they were. It is not interested in documentary. It is interested in the show: there is no backstory here, no interviews, no crisis narrative. The film gives you the concert from beginning to end and shows the logic of the tour exactly as it plays on stage. The form is multi-camera concert capture: close-ups for individual members, wide shots for the choreography. The sound mix has studio cleanliness, which is not what the room sounded like. The distribution of such films is itself a strategy: concert films released for a handful of days in cinemas let the audience who could not travel share the same show without a ticket, and widen the group's international reach. This one went out worldwide that way in 2019. Who it is for: BTS listeners, anyone curious about K-pop staging, and fans of concert films. Who it is not for: viewers looking for a story or information about the group. The film never steps outside the concert.
