What Soledad's Shawl Is About
Alberto Robles is a young doctor. He comes from the city to settle in a village. The village is called Santa Cruz. The land is dry and poor. One man holds all the say there. He is the local strongman. The order he keeps is a hard one. Robles stands against it. Two men are with him. One is Father Juan and the other is Roque Suazo, plain spoken and quick to anger. Robles becomes attached to Soledad, a woman of the village. Violence reaches her too, and the doctor has to choose between a comfortable life elsewhere and this place. Arturo de Córdova and Pedro Armendáriz appear in the hundred and eleven minute film, a Mexican production Roberto Gavaldón finished in 1952.
