Son of Paleface

Peter Potter Jr. is a self-satisfied young man fresh out of Harvard. He goes west to collect the gold his father left him. The trouble starts there: the gold is nowhere to be found, his father's creditors are after him, and the famous bandit robbing the mail turns out to be a woman. There is also a government agent working under cover. Peter is caught between the three of them and cannot keep up with any of them. The film is the sequel to The Paleface from 1948. The father there was no hero; he was a cowardly dentist who inherited the fame of somebody else's bravery. That is the joke: the son is chasing the legacy of a legend that never existed. Frank Tashlin directed and carried cartoon logic into live action; the scenes do not care about the laws of physics. Bob Hope, Jane Russell and Roy Rogers act in it. Rogers comes with his own horse, Trigger.
