In Argentina in 1977, a pregnant woman held in detention gives birth to twins; with a midwife’s help one of the babies is hidden while the other is taken away by the regime’s men. The scene moves to Milan today: a young woman named Rosa makes contact with a man called Javier and tries to convince him that they are twins separated at birth. The two of them set out to find their origins and their past, and the truth waiting for them is of a kind that will overturn both their lives. Marco Bechis’s ninety two minute Argentine Italian co-production takes up the practice of handing the newborn children of the disappeared to other families, and it keeps the history of the 1970s and the present inside the same story.
