What Sovershenno seryozno Is About
This is not one film but a comedy almanac made of five shorts, directed by Eldar Ryazanov, Naum Trakhtenberg, Eduard Zmoyro, Vladimir Semakov and Leonid Gaidai, with the director Ivan Pyryev supervising. What matters most is the last segment: Gaidai’s short, whose title translates roughly as the dog Barbos and an unusual cross-country run, is where Soviet audiences first met the comic trio known as the Coward, the Fool and the Old Hand. Over the following decade those three became national property, appearing in the most popular comedies the country produced. Anatoly Papanov, Sergei Filippov and Georgy Vitsin are among the cast.
