Speed Sisters

The Speed Sisters are the first all women racing team in the Middle East. Five women race on improvised tracks across the West Bank. The scene they race in is a street racing world dominated by men. The team draws attention quickly and gets into the headlines. The documentary tells their lives on the track and off it together. Checkpoints, permits and daily restrictions are inside the account as well. Women making room for themselves in that world is the real subject. The film offers them neither as symbols nor as victims. Amber Fares’s eighty minute documentary, a coproduction of six countries, was completed in 2015.
