What Stingray Sam Is About
A dangerous mission brings Stingray Sam back together with the Quasar Kid, the partner he lost track of years before. Both are convicts in space, and the only way to earn their freedom is to rescue a small girl held by the genetically designed figurehead of a very wealthy planet. The film is divided into six short episodes; each opens with a song, a narrator breaks in, and the black and white images imitate the shape of an old serial. Cory McAbee’s sixty one minute American film joins the space western to the musical; the director also takes the lead and wrote the songs. David Hyde Pierce narrates; it was completed in 2009.
