What Take a Letter, Darling Is About
A painter whose work is going badly takes a job as secretary to a woman running an advertising agency. Her work is hard, and having a male assistant beside her gives her an advantage in dealing with clients. While trying to win an account from a tobacco company the two have to work together, and because the roles were reversed from the start the relation turns over as well. The film deliberately inverts the usual arrangement of the sexes in American comedies of the forties and draws its humour from that. Rosalind Russell and Fred MacMurray appear in Mitchell Leisen’s ninety two minute American film, completed in 1942.
