What Tall in the Saddle Is About
Rocklin arrives in a western town to take up a job as foreman and finds that the rancher who hired him has been murdered. He sets about solving that and wrecking the scheme to take the ranch away from the person it actually belongs to. This is one of John Wayne's high output wartime westerns, and the story turns less on chases than on inheritance, deeds and who is entitled to what. Opposite him, Ella Raines plays a woman with considerably more edge than the genre usually allowed at the time.
