What Task Force Is About
An officer who learns the finer points of carrier aviation in the twenties spends the next two decades arguing for the superiority of naval air power. But military and political bureaucracy keeps blocking him, and at one point he even considers leaving the navy for a job that pays better. When the Second World War begins he finally gets the chance to show what he has been arguing for, but the cost to him and to his comrades is heavy. The film tells the history of the navy from inside a personal story and speaks from a position that affirms the institution.
