Ten Dark Women

Kaze is a television producer. He is involved with a number of women at once. His wife and nine of his mistresses come together. All of them agree to kill him. But each woman would in fact rather keep him alive. Her condition is this: that she be the only woman in his life. That contradiction hollows the plot out from inside. The film tells it as dark comedy. The account moves between revenge and attachment. Fujiko Yamamoto and Mariko Miyagi take the leads, with Kyôko Kishida, Eiji Funakoshi, Tamao Nakamura and Keiko Kishi also in the cast, in Kon Ichikawa’s Japanese film of 1961.
