What That Day Is About
Livia, who lives on a large estate in Switzerland, has come into the fortune left by her mother; she looks at the world like a child and expects no harm from anyone. Her father and the rest of the family decide to have her killed so as to take the money back, and they let a killer out of an asylum find his way to the house. But the man who arrives and Livia take to each other, and the day goes quite differently from what was planned. In the background the army has taken over the country, and the state has its own account to settle in the affair too. Raul Ruiz’s hundred and five minute Swiss and French production moves in black comedy. Bernard Giraudeau and Elsa Zylberstein appear in it; the film was completed in 2003 and competed at Cannes.
