The Curse of the Dragon

The documentary is about Bruce Lee. He was born in San Francisco, grew up in Hong Kong, returned to America at eighteen and began teaching martial arts. Hollywood kept him out of leading parts for years, and when it used him it used him in support. He went back to Hong Kong, and the films he made there made him a name known everywhere. He died in 1973 at thirty-two. The film talks to his students, to the people who worked with him, and to those who describe what an Asian actor was up against in America at the time. Fred Weintraub directs; eighty-seven minutes. Weintraub had produced Enter the Dragon. George Takei narrates, and James Coburn and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are among those speaking; both had worked with Lee. The film goes into the rumours around Lee's death and says none of them has any basis.
