What The Drop Box Is About
One winter a pastor finds an abandoned infant on the steps of his church. After that he has a box built into the wall, so that a child left there is not left outside. The box soon becomes known and gets used. The documentary follows the pastor’s daily life and the children he cares for. The film does not sit in judgement on the people who leave their babies; it looks at what brought them to that point. Care, disability and the question of money are inside the account. The work’s own view is centred on faith, and that frame is the film’s. The seventy nine minutes are given to a single house. Brian Tetsuro Ivie’s South Korean documentary was completed in 2015.
