The Economics of Happiness

The documentary argues about the global economy. Speakers from six continents appear in it. All of them object to the present order. The film says governments and large companies push globalisation. Corporate power grows through that. At the same time the opposite is happening. People in many countries resist those policies. They ask for new rules for trade and finance. They try to build local economies. The road the film proposes is localisation. Climate change is offered as a reason for it. The limit of oil production is discussed as well. The documentary openly takes a side. It gives no room to the opposing view. The claims it makes are the film’s own claims. Steven Gorelick, Helena Norberg-Hodge and John Page directed the sixty seven minute documentary. It is an American production finished in 2011.
