The Goose Woman

There was once a famous opera singer. She lost her voice when her son was born. She never sang on a stage again. Over the years she gave herself to drink. Nothing is left of the fame she had. Nobody recognises her now. One day a murder is committed near her house. The press goes after the story. The woman sees an opportunity in it. To be looked at again, she invents a story. She presents herself as a witness to what happened. What she says gets into the newspapers. The details she made up, though, point in the wrong direction. Her son is arrested for the murder. The woman is left facing her own lie. The film is about what the hunger for fame costs. Louise Dresser and Jack Pickford appear in the eighty minute film, an American production Clarence Brown finished in 1925.
