The Last Wolf

Upi's 2009 Indonesian film follows five friends who grew up together. They give their gang a name and set out to rise in Jakarta. The difference between Jarot and Ale splits the group. The film builds loyalty and betrayal inside the same circle; the narrative makes no one a hero and shows that the cost of the violence is paid in the friendship. Vino G. Bastian and Fathir Muchtar appear. The violence is hard and frequent. The close is merciless. Who it's for: viewers of Indonesian crime films. Who it's not for: viewers troubled by heavy violence; the film shows it in detail.
