What The Man of My Life Is About
A man on holiday in the south of France with his wife and children gets talking to the neighbour. The neighbour lives alone, is gay, and talks about his life without defending any of it. A conversation that lasts one night begins, slowly, to unsettle everything the married man believed he knew about himself. Zabou Breitman's 2006 film reaches for no large events: two men talking, a woman noticing, the end of a summer. Bernard Campan and Charles Berling play off each other. It is a quiet film built less on sexuality than on the question of whether a person ever chose the life they are in.
