The Marriage

Bekim and Anita are about to marry. There is something Anita does not know: Bekim is still in love with Nol, his closest friend. The film tells the predicament of a man attached to two people at once. In Kosovo the pressure to marry is heavy and support for gay rights is thin. The account takes both relationships with the same weight and puts neither in the shadow of the other. The mark left by the war sits in the background of the story. The point where something unsayable holds three people at once is the real subject. The film tells the deception by showing its cause rather than passing judgement. Alban Ukaj and Adriana Matoshi appear in Blerta Zeqiri’s ninety seven minute film, a joint Albanian and Kosovar production, completed in 2017.
