What The Ride Is About

Two friends take an open-top car out onto the back roads of southern Bohemia and pick up a girl travelling alone. Jan Svěrák shot it over one summer with a crew of nine and a budget that stayed under a million crowns. The result won the Crystal Globe at Karlovy Vary in 1995 and took two Czech Lions, for cinematography and for music. A couple of years later Svěrák would make Kolya.
