What The Robbery of the Third Reich Is About
In Belgrade in 1941, two well known thieves set out to pull off the biggest robbery ever committed against the Nazi authorities. Zdravko Sotra’s hundred and five minute film builds the job as a comedy in which crime and wartime occupation are tangled together rather than as a thriller, working from a script by Miodrag Andric and from a real incident. It was shown on 17 February 2004 at the Sava Centre in Belgrade and went on to become the most watched film in Serbia that year. Dragan Nikolic, Nikola Duricko, Katarina Zutic and Vojin Cetkovic star, and Isidora Minic took the best actress prize at the Sopot festival. Set in an occupied city, the story is after cunning rather than heroism.
