The Sea and the Weather

Jesus lived for many years in Argentina. After his exile he returns to Spain. He hopes to find the family he left behind. But the house he meets is another house. They live inside the silence of those who lost the war. Marcela was young and cheerful once. Now she has a problem with drink. The young ones in the house do not understand him at all. What he tells them sounds distant to them. Jesus wants to begin again here. But he feels out of place. The time that has passed has made him a man of the other side of the water. Rafaela Aparicio and Pepe Soriano take the leads, with Aitana Sanchez-Gijon also in the cast, in Fernando Fernan Gomez’s Spanish film of 1989.
