The Second Awakening of Christa Klages

Three people rob a bank. Their aim is to rescue a day care centre that is in debt. After the robbery Wolf is captured. Werner is identified. The police suspect that Christa was the third. Christa and Werner go to a clergyman to have the money laundered. The man, Hans, refuses. They turn instead to Ingrid, a friend of Christa. Ingrid tries to help, but the centre turns the money down. Disaster then strikes Werner. In the end Hans does help Christa. She flees to a collective in Portugal. Ingrid comes to visit her there. The closeness between them makes the collective uneasy. Christa goes back to Germany and stops living in hiding. The police are still after her. Lena, a bank clerk who witnessed the robbery, is looking for her too. The interest Lena takes brings about the second awakening of Christa. Tina Engel and Katharina Thalbach appear in the eighty eight minute film, a German production Margarethe von Trotta finished in 1978.
