What The Shop at Sly Corner Is About
In Britain, a man with a shady past uses his antiques shop as a front for smuggled diamonds. When the young assistant in the shop finds out, he starts blackmailing him, and as the demands grow the business ends in murder and then in a police investigation. What the man is trying to protect is not his own comfort but the fact that the arrangement he built stays hidden. The film comes out of the darker vein of post war British cinema and shows crime not as a choice but as a chain. Oskar Homolka and Diana Dors appear in George King’s ninety one minute film, completed in 1947.
