What The Trap Is About
The lawyer Ralph Anderson arrives in Tula, a town far out in the desert, as a reluctant messenger. He has been sent by the mob boss Victor Massonetti, who wants the airstrip cleared so he can leave the country unofficially. Ralph’s arrival shakes the place: his father is the sheriff and the two are estranged, his brother Tip is an alcoholic deputy, and Linda, whom he used to love, is now Tip’s wife. The tension builds as a small army of gangsters takes the town, and then the situation turns over completely. Written by Norman Panama with Richard Alan Simmons and directed by Panama for Paramount, it opened in January 1959. Richard Widmark, Lee J. Cobb, Tina Louise, Earl Holliman and Lorne Greene are in it.
