What The Union: The Business Behind Getting High Is About
The documentary treats illegal cannabis growing in British Columbia as an industry: who grows it, where the money goes, what the police do, and why prohibition makes the business more profitable than legality would. It talks to growers, law enforcement officers, doctors, economists and well known names. The film has a thesis and does not hide it; this is an argument rather than a neutral survey. Its date matters too, since a film from 2007 knows nothing of what came after Canadian legalisation. The two US presidents listed in our cast are archive footage.
