What The White Lady Is About
A castle has a ghost of its own. They call her the White Lady. She comes out of the painting on the wall. For her to appear someone has to speak the magic words. The White Lady is a well meaning ghost. She can make people’s wishes come true. Even when what the town wants is a new water duct. But the communist leaders in the town do not want a miracle. The film tells this as satire. The work was adapted from a short story. Vlastimil Brodský and Rudolf Hrušínský take the leads, with Miloš Kopecký and Jiřina Bohdalová also in the cast, in Zdeněk Podskalský’s Czechoslovak film of 1965.
