The Wolf and the Lion

A young pianist returning to her grandfather's house on a Canadian island raises an orphaned wolf cub and a lion cub together. They grow up as siblings and are then forced apart. The film makes the two animals' attempt to find each other its narrative and keeps the people largely in the background. The circus and laboratory sections carry an open criticism of what happens to animals in human hands. Gilles de Maistre directed, having made earlier films with real wild animals. The scenes were shot with live animals rather than computer animation.
