Through My Window: Across the Sea

Through My Window: Across the Sea (2023) is the second film in a trilogy adapted from a novel first published on Wattpad. Do not start here. The story picks up directly from the first film. Raquel and Ares have spent a year apart and meet again over a summer by the sea, with the question of whether the relationship survives running the length of the film. It is worth being clear about what this is. The film operates inside a genre and delivers what that genre promises: young love, jealousy, misunderstandings, reconciliation. Anyone looking for depth or surprise is in the wrong place. The low IMDb score reflects that critics and the target audience are not measuring the same thing. For the audience it was made for it works. The photography is clean, the locations are attractive, and the two leads still have the chemistry that carried the first film. A third film completes the story. Good for: fans of young adult romance, and anyone wanting something undemanding for an evening. Less good for: sex is shown fairly openly, so think twice before putting it on with a younger viewer. Not for anyone who wants a tight script.
