What Together Again Is About

Anne Crandall is the mayor of a small town in Vermont. She took the office over from her husband. He had been mayor for years, and he died. Anne took on both the work and the daughter from his first marriage. She lives at home with the girl, her father-in-law and a housekeeper. In the town square stands a statue of her late husband. Every year since his death there is a memorial gathering there. This year, during a thunderstorm, lightning strikes the statue. The head comes off. The daughter insists on a new statue rather than a repair. So Anne goes to New York to meet the sculptor. The sculptor’s name is George Corday. Irene Dunne and Charles Boyer take the leads in Charles Vidor’s American film of 1944.
