Tylko nie mów nikomu

The documentary takes on child sexual abuse inside the Catholic Church in Poland. Its method is this: people abused years ago, now adults, go and knock on those priests' doors with a camera. Most of the priests are still in post or in a retirement home. The encounters were recorded with hidden cameras. Some deny it; some remember and admit it. The film's second subject is how the bishops closed these cases by moving the files, and the men, from one town to the next. Tomasz Sekielski directs the Polish documentary; a hundred and twenty-one minutes, made with his brother Marek and funded by its audience. It was published free on YouTube on 11 May 2019 and passed twenty million views in the first week. Within days the government raised the maximum sentence for child sexual abuse to thirty years, and the bishops' apology was read out at Mass.
