What Udon Is About

Kosuke, thirty one, is tired of a home town where nothing happens and decides on the spur of the moment to go to New York with big plans. Six months later he comes back beaten and in debt. What awaits him are his old friends, a caring older sister, an angry father and a bowl of noodles. The town is built on those noodles, lives by them and is known for them. Unwillingly he enters that world and begins to see what it was he had been running from. The film treats food as a question of identity and runs humour and feeling together. Yusuke Santamaria plays the lead in Katsuyuki Motohiro’s hundred and thirty four minute Japanese film, completed in 2006.
