What Uncle Is About
Kris and her partially disabled uncle run a run down farm together. Their odd but affectionate relationship rests entirely on daily routine: the milking, the meals, the silence. When Kris takes an interest in someone the arrangement is disturbed and she runs into heavy questions about her own life, about staying or going and about what she owes to whom. René Frelle Petersen's 2019 Danish film moves slowly and patiently, and the work itself does more talking than the dialogue. It says what caring for someone involves without any sentimentality at all.
