What Voice of a Murderer Is About
One day Gyeong-bae's son is taken and the man demanding a ransom starts telephoning. The calls go on for months, the police are a step late every time, and the family lives by listening to that voice. The film comes from a real case: a child abducted in Seoul in 1991, never solved, the statute of limitations run out. Its most striking part is the ending, where the recorded voice of the real kidnapper is played and the audience is asked to come forward if anyone recognises it. Neither summary mentions this.
