You Are My Sunshine

Seok-jung is a farmer in his forties who has never had a relationship. He sees Eun-ha, who makes coffee deliveries around the town, and falls in love on the spot. She is not interested at first but softens against his attention, which he keeps up without tiring. They marry. For the first time Eun-ha feels safe beside somebody. Then a health screening shows she is carrying HIV, and her past does not let go of her either. Park Jin-pyo's film moves like a country comedy through its first half and then changes its tone. Jeon Do-yeon plays Eun-ha and makes the character neither a victim nor a saint; the woman is selfish, a liar, and at the same time very tired. Hwang Jung-min takes the man out of being ridiculous and turns him into a stubborn loyalty. Two hours and three minutes. The story sets out to make you cry but does not hand the feeling over for free.
