Wall Driller

The man lives in an enormous housing estate. The blocks are identical and the place is dispiriting. He is not content with his life. He wants to change something. There is not much he can actually do. In the end he buys a hammer drill. He slings the drill over his shoulder. The way he carries it recalls a western hero. And with that he has set up his own business. He bores holes in his neighbours’ walls. The holes are for hanging mirrors and pictures. The business appears to work. The film tells this as a sad comedy. Hungary in the eighties stands behind it all. János Bán and Renáta Szatler appear in the ninety eight minute film, a Hungarian production György Szomjas finished in 1986.
