What Wild Heart Is About
The documentary draws a portrait of Jan Gorkow, the front man of a punk band, and tells of his campaign against racism and the far right. The film does not treat life on stage and a political stand as two separate subjects; it shows them as parts of the same work. The account records what it means to play concerts in the towns of northeastern Germany, the reaction they meet and how the band takes it. The film stands openly with the band and does not conceal it. Concert footage and scenes of daily life are folded into each other. The eighty eight minute German documentary by Sebastian Schultz and Charly Hubner was completed in 2018.
