Mika returns to the horse farm after her first summer there. The horse Ostwind trusts her now, but the farm is in financial trouble. At the same time a new horse of Spanish stock arrives, and as Mika takes an interest in it her bond with Ostwind is shaken. Katja von Garnier directs. Hanna Binke plays Mika. It is the second film in the series. Within German family cinema the Ostwind films are an event in themselves. The first, in 2013, was an unexpected commercial success, and the series ran to five films, becoming the most consistent domestic production line for young audiences in Germany. Its subject is horse training. Throughout, the classical method built on force is set against an approach built on relationship with the animal, and the film stands with the second. The strongest material is the horses. The riding sequences were shot with real animals in wide frames, with almost no digital assistance. Who it is for: young viewers who like horse films and anyone looking for family cinema. Who it is not for: without the first film the relationships have nothing to stand on, and the farm's debt is a device the series reuses repeatedly.
