What Wish You Well Is About
The end of the 1940s. After a family accident, Louisa and her younger brother are taken from New York to their great-grandmother's farm in rural Virginia. For two children raised in the city it is another world entirely: no electricity, no near neighbours, and a great deal of work. Slowly Louisa begins to understand where her father's writing came from. It is adapted from David Baldacci's novel of the same name, a book built on the author's own family roots. Darnell Martin puts the great-grandmother in Ellen Burstyn's hands and the child in Mackenzie Foy's. Land, inheritance and a company with designs on the property sit in the background. It is a measured, quiet family film that never reaches for tears.
