What You Are a Widow, Sir Is About
In a kingdom the army is disbanded and the generals decide to kill the king. The assassin is to be the body of a famous actress with the brain of a killer from prison put into it. But the operation goes wrong: the brain that goes in belongs to somebody else, the king's astrologer Hampl. The actress dies, the astrologer wakes up in her body, and everything comes apart. Václav Vorlíček's Czechoslovak film joins science fiction to outright silliness. Vorlíček is taken as the master of this kind of work. Iva Janžurová plays several parts at once. The telling takes no rule seriously; the brain transplant is only a pretext. The film is still a much-loved cult picture in the Czech Republic.
