Yowis Ben 2

This 2019 Indonesian film, directed by Fajar Nugros with Bayu Skak, continues from the previous one. Bayu has been left by his girlfriend and is about to be evicted; he hopes to recover by playing with his band, and it does not go well. The film was shot in Javanese, an uncommon choice in the country's cinema. Local turns of phrase and jokes sit inside the narrative, and the city of Malang is shown in detail. Bayu Skak is both a director and the lead. The tone is light and the music at the centre; the narrative keeps the friendship ahead of the romance. It runs short and moves fast. Who it's for: those who like Indonesian youth comedy and follow the series. Who it's not for: people who have not seen the first film; the narrative begins without introducing its characters.
