Matthew McConaughey
32 films · 1 series
Matthew McConaughey was cited three times at Independent Spirit across two ceremonies, two of the three being wins: he took supporting actor in 2013, stayed a nominee in the leading category at that same ceremony for Killer Joe, and won the leading category the year after for Dallas Buyers Club. In the year he was only nominated, that category's award went to John Hawkes. Leslie Felperin, assessing a television satire, lists what the film hands its audience and puts his constantly displayed, much-disputed charm among the items; what it really does, on her account, is parody small-screen acting from the inside.
