08/15 Part 2

Winter, 1942. Like thousands of other German soldiers, Asch and Vierbein have ended up on the eastern front. There Vierbein finds a new friend in Kowalski. But the squadron commander, Captain Witterer, makes life hard for both of them. Witterer is an old army hand and most of the orders he gives make no sense. Those orders carry on the bad habits of the superiors who came before. Once again it is Vierbein who bears the brunt. The film shows the war not at the front but in the workings of the army itself. It was made as the second film of a series. Joachim Fuchsberger and O.E. Hasse appear in Paul May’s hundred and ten minute German film, completed in 1955.
