What 125 rue Montmartre Is About
Didier throws himself into the Seine and Pascal, a newspaper seller, jumps in and saves him, which begins a friendship between them. But the more Pascal helps the man he pulled out, the deeper he lands in the middle of a murder, and while everyone else takes him for the culprit only the superintendent believes he is innocent. The most striking thing here is seeing Lino Ventura not as a gangster or a policeman but as an ordinary man selling papers on the street. Tight French crime filmmaking at eighty six minutes.
